Scootering in College Station, TX

So I’m still stuck in Texas, unable to go home until Thursday. I called bike shops here in College Station, looking for a rental, but was unsuccessful; Tim took my number to call me in case he found a bike I could ride, but no call. He said he thought I should get to ride, and I must agree with him. But no dice. I’m antsy. Antsy to get back home, to get back to work, to get back to cooking in my kitchen and sleeping in my bed and riding my own bike through my city.

I needed something today that would take my mind off things. My dear sister E. generously donated to my evacuation fund, and I used a bit of it to buy this scooter. It’s small and it’ll fit it in my car for the ride home in just a day and a half. And I am back on wheels. For now I’ll be scootering, as my nephew calls it, along these bumpy Texas roads, excited to have a home to go home to, happy that the city has dodged a bullet, and feeling lucky to have access to wheels in many forms. So this isn’t what I saw on my bike today, but it’s what I saw on my new wheels. We’ve got to improvise, you know.
