Today was positive beautiful, sunny and warm, but not too warm, and I decided to make today the day to take the plunge and get myself a road bike. Don’t get me wrong–Rhoda is wonderful. Continue reading

New Orleans Critical Mass on the Algiers Ferry
Tonight I went to my first Critical Mass. I was strangely nervous, I think because I still feel so new to riding and I almost always ride alone. But I had a beer to steel my nerves and then met up with the crowd at Jackson Square. Continue reading
Rat Poison at the Magazine Street Breaux Mart
Today wasn’t much for bike riding, to tell you the truth. I need to outfit the girl with enough baskets to carry home sixty student projects. Or stop assigning student projects. Regardless, I did get a chance to ride my bike to the bar to throw some darts with my good buddy N. Continue reading
Rue de la Course on Magazine Street
It was a rainy day in New Orleans, and I considered taking my car, but I managed to avoid the downpours and rode my bike to work. After work I headed to Rue de la Course on Magazine Street, my home away from home, my other office. Continue reading
Carriage House on Perrier
Today was positively beautiful–in the 70s, sun shining, light breeze. I took the long and easy way home from work this afternoon and passed this big house with its smaller carriage house on Perrier. Continue reading
Moving By Crane at Tulane
I have had lots of long bike rides in the last few days, but haven’t had time to blog. Today I was back at work, using my bike for the commute. When I was riding home this afternoon, I saw this crane moving things in–or out–of one of the campus buildings. Continue reading
Leaking Fire Hydrant at Tulane
Finally–a warm, sunny day! I put on a dress and heels and hopped on my bike to head to work, and it felt great. It seemed like everybody was out today and ready for summer, even though we’ve got some months left. Continue reading
Think That You Might Be Wrong Sign at 7th and La Salle
Today was crisp and cold and the sky was this beautiful blue. I rode home on Freret and then turned on La Salle. I stopped to take a picture of this sign, which reads “Think That You Might Be Wrong.” I’ve seen these signs all over town, but I don’t know who put them up, or why. Continue reading
Uncovered Manhole at 6th and Constance
It was another brisk but sunny day in New Orleans, perfect for riding around. I went mostly on task rides today and rode home on Constance Street. I usually just take Magazine, but Constance is smooth, recently repaved, almost as nice as Baronne or even Hampson. Continue reading
Fire Hydrant at St. Mary’s and Magazine
We’ve had some unseasonably cold weather lately, but today warmer temps were back, and I tossed on a skirt and a tank top and rode all over the neighborhood. It felt so, so good to be on my bike and breathing normally. Continue reading
