I spent my Thursday doing usual Thursday things and expected to spend my evening at home, watching the game, heading to bed early. But that’s not quite how things happened. Some friends let me in on a little secret–free fruity mojitos for ladiez! Works for me. So I hopped on Jack and rode down to Lee Circle to enjoy some beverages and conversation with friends I hadn’t see for awhile. That short ride made me want more, so I wooed S. out for a nightcap at her local bar. I was looking forward to the bike ride home, I must say. Today was hot hot hot; summer is here for good. but tonight wasn’t too bad, and a ride home in the dark (I’ve got lights–no worries) in the slightly thick night air was just what I wanted. I stopped to take a photo of this courthouse on Magazine in the CBD. I remember this time last summer when it was hot and sweaty and I was still brand new to bike riding. The chain popped off Rhoda in front of this building on a ride Uptown, and I sweated it out under that tree, trying to figure out how to get the chain back on. Now I can easily get a chain on a chainring. I can ride clipless pedals without falling. I can change a flat tire. I can ride without fear. Yeah, it’s been a good year. And tonight’s ride home was just what I needed. I think tomorrow’s the day for a good, long ride. I love feeling my legs go round and round and round, no matter how hot it is.
