It rained all day long today. It never seemed to quite get light out even. I was in the mood for a lazy bike ride going nowhere this afternoon, but alas, I ended up taking a drive in the rain. When S. called and asked if I’d like to join her and N. for pool up in my neighborhood, I was relieved to get to hop on the bike, even if only for half a mile. After some semi-competitive pool (I suck, so that’s being generous….), I headed home in the rain on empty streets. I love empty nighttime streets with a song and a race up and down Louisiana. I stopped to take this picture of some campaign signs stuck in the grass at Delachaise and Camp. Yeah, we’ve got the Super Bowl and Carnival, but we’re also voting on Saturday. We’re voting for mayor, but we’re also voting for coroner, city council, and stuff like funding neighborhood patrols. Because apparently we use public funds to hire private police forces for certain neighborhoods in this city. On that, I vote no. See you at the polls, folks!

Funds of this type are generated by a property tax levied within the district – they’re not coming from the general fund. If you don’t live in a special taxation district you won’t see the issue on your ballot.
I’m curious. I lightened the shadows and it appears as though that is the moon low in the far horizon. Really cannot be sure.
