The day after Thanksgiving day is a lazy one, if you’re lucky enough to have the day off work, and lucky enough not to think you’re supposed to get up early to go buy things you don’t need. After finally dragging myself off my behind, I got on the bike to run some quick errands. After dinner with K. I headed to the drug store for various and sundry. I noticed this giant John Georges for Mayor sign up on a building on St. Charles between Terpsichore and Melpomene (don’t you love the street names around here?). It’s mayoral race time, and the signs are coming out. I don’t know much about this guy–apparently a very, very rich man with $2 million to spend on the race. We really, really need a new mayor. I don’t know if this guy’s the right one for the job–heck, I don’t know who can do this job the way it needs to be done. Right now, I’m thinking James Perry. I have a feeling I’ll be seeing a whole lot of signs as I bike around town for a long time
YES YES YES! James Perry!
I know you know that I’m a bit biased, but if you contrast and compare his ideas and plans to what little the other candidates have put out, I think you’ll agree!
Have you read “Frenchmen, Desire, Goodchildren?”
Have you read “Frenchmen, Desire, Goodchildren?” It’s a great book for people who wander around this city’s streets and wonder about their names.
Hey, Randy–I haven’t, but it has just moved to the top of my list for holiday reading. Thanks!
