It was a truly beautiful sunny day in New Orleans, perfect for all the brave souls who got up early to run the Mardi Gras Marathon. Me? I slept in, did some homework, and then got on my bike and headed down to the Treme to help S. move around the corner, happy to do so on a sunny day. There was a crowd of folks sitting in the sunshine, moving their chairs as the sun moved, making sure they eeked out the very last bit of warmth. We’ve got our priorities right in New Orleans. After a long afternoon schlepping things up and down stairs and a nice dinner in the new digs, I rode my bike back Uptown in the cool evening air. I stopped at Baronne and Union to take a picture of this fire hydrant wearing this warm flannel shirt/hoodie. Layers are important in springtime, and I’m glad someone thought this fire hydrant needed some layers too. He looks very comfortable, as was I on my leisurely pedal home. Now please ask spring to stay.
