I haven’t blogged in a few days, but not because I haven’t been riding around, but because I’ve been out riding so late. By the time I’ve gotten home, I’ve been too tired to write. Tonight I decided to have a low key, early evening, opting to ride down to the Treme to have sangria, homemade Thai curry, and what turned out to be a rather disappointing Game 7 with D., E., S., and some other friends who stopped by. Riding felt a bit sketchy given the incredible storms we’ve had the last couple of days, but I needed to get a ride in, especially after last night’s ride–toting my friend K. took some muscle, and I needed to stretch out my quads! The sky was gray and the winds were gusty–the kind of gusts where you pedal with all your might only to stay in one spot. This house is clearly in some state of repair, but I could hear it all the way up the block, the house wrap flapping in the breeze. The lot next to it is clearly way overgrown, and I wonder who, if anyone, will decide to step in and mow the place. I ride by this corner all the time, and I’m not sure if I see much changing. I wonder if it’ll be fixed up someday soon, or if it’s one of the many projects in this town that gets started, but not finished. I’ll be riding by for the foreseeable future, so I’ll let you know. All in all I had a wonderful weekend of riding for fun and transport, but am also looking forward to the work week, when my rides are aimless and on my own.
