Ok, I am really, really into my bicycle. I ride everywhere, every day; I write about it, I read magazines about it, I am an active member of our local bike advocacy group and have trained to be a cycling safety instructor with the League of American Bicyclists. Some might call me a little obsessed. Whatever. I’m glad I’ve found something to do and think about that brings me so much pleasure. I happily took the bike out this afternoon to meet up with K. and M., who both wanted an Abita Strawberry (*gak*). We started at the convention center to check out the crowds at the Wizard World New Orleans Comic Con. Now these are some obsessed weirdos. I mean, look at these two in their crazy costumes! And they weren’t the only ones. Awesome. I love people who are really, really into whatever they’re into–comics, cars, Jazzercise, knitting, Airstream trailers, etc. etc. etc. As M. said, there’s a place for everybody. Or, as my father would say, different strokes. After a lovely afternoon with friends I did a quick spin through the Bywater and then back Uptown for groceries, happy to have gotten 16 miles in. Not that I’m counting miles or anything.
Good one! Keep pedaling kid.
