It was a beautiful day in New Orleans today, perfect for riding around, which is exactly what I did after meeting D. for lunch in the Marigny. I rode out on St. Claude. That bike lane is still my favorite place to ride in the city. I turned on Poland and rode up and down, trying to figure out what that building was (Poland Scrap Metal) and marveling at the strangely out of place post office. Continue reading

After spending a couple of hours cleaning the Surly, including cleaning between each individual link in the chain and scrubbing the derailleur, all of which was incredibly pleasurable, I took the bike out for a ride. I headed to Mid-City for coffee and a cookie and some writing. Continue reading

Today looked so lovely, and it was, but the wind was heavy on my ride home from school. My legs are feeling tired lately, so I was taking it as easy as I could, pedaling lightly down Freret. It is always surprising how different a ride down Freret is from a ride down St. Charles. And they are only a few blocks away. Continue reading
