My sweet aunties E. and J. are in town visiting, and I’ve ceded my place to them and taken up residence in the French Quarter. Now, to me the Quarter is a neighborhood to ride through on my way to friends’ places in the Treme or Mid-City or on my way to the Marigny or Bywater for coffee and drinks. Continue reading

Lot For Sale at Richard and Annunciation
Today’s ride took me to the coffee shop for some revising, planning, reading, and chatting. It was nice and warm out, and the ride home was delightful. I took Annunciation, and was surprised yet again at how different this city looks from just street to street. Continue reading
House and Lot at Thalia and Camp
I haven’t blogged in a few days, but not because I haven’t been riding around, but because I’ve been out riding so late. By the time I’ve gotten home, I’ve been too tired to write. Continue reading
Burned-Out House at 4th and S. Tonti
I had an hour this morning between work and more work, so I took the opportunity to hop on the new bike and tool around Broadmoor. Broadmoor took on a lot of water when the levees broke, and the neighborhoods in the area are only slowly coming back. Moving By Crane at Tulane
I have had lots of long bike rides in the last few days, but haven’t had time to blog. Today I was back at work, using my bike for the commute. When I was riding home this afternoon, I saw this crane moving things in–or out–of one of the campus buildings. Continue reading
Washing Machine at Soniat and Willow
I love New Orleans weather in January. Yesterday it was windy and wet with a tornado warning. Today it’s all sunny blue skies with just the right nip in the air. I took Willow home today rather than St. Charles and was surprised by how much has actually changed in the last month. Continue reading
Baseball Diamond at Laurel and Lyons
I had never seen New Orleans before I drove in on I10 last summer. I moved in to a house on Laurel Street that I rented, sight unseen, from a Tulane professor who was on leave. Just down the block was a FEMA trailer park in what used to be a park. Continue reading
Escalator at the Tulane Family Health Center
Today was absolutely beautiful. It started out overcast, but by the afternoon it was sunny and downright warm. I rode my bike to the Tulane Family Health Center to have my shoulder checked out–sure, it’s a bike injury, but there’s no way I’m driving on a day like today. Continue reading
