Today reminded me of summer. I rode my bike just to ride and taste the wind. The day started with rain, but then it let up and the sun was shining and I felt free, zipping through Uptown for a lunch date with A. I wasn’t sure where my bike would take me after that, but I overheard some folks talking about some installation art on Piety. Continue reading
Prospect 1 Sculpture at Tulane
It is Prospect New Orleans: P.1 time. This is a huge international art biennial taking place right here in NOLA. The cryptic P.1 yard signs started popping up up a month or two ago and the big opening night party drew crowds on November 1. Continue reading
Voting By Bike
It’s Election Day, and I woke up excited to participate in the pageant that is the United States Democracy. Everyone was predicting record turnout and long waits at the polls, so I had planned to go first thing in the morning, be there for the doors at 6am. Continue reading
House on Delachaise and S. Liberty
It’s a beautiful day in New Orleans. I can’t believe how warm and sunny it can still be in November. I zipped home from work this afternoon on Willow and then took a right onto Amelia to head toward the river. I passed this house near the corner of Delachaise and South Liberty. Continue reading
Neighborhood Association Block Party in Uptown
Halloween weekend in New Orleans was a blast, and I was really, really happy to have a bicycle. I tooled around the Quarter and Frenchman Street, navigating crowds with ease and zipping by cars and taxicabs lined up for blocks. Continue reading
Halloween House at Washington and Magazine

Fish in the CBD
I have been incredibly busy at work lately, and it is cutting in to my blogging time, and my biking time, and I have not been happy about it. So after a long day at work today, I decided to spend part of my evening riding down to the Quarter on my bike to see some friends. Continue reading
Cricket at Tulane
Today was a beautiful day in New Orleans: mid-70s, blue sky, shining sun. It was the perfect day for a bike ride, so I tooled around Uptown after doing some work on campus. I saw these men playing cricket out on the lawn in front of the student center. Continue reading
Shipping Container at Delachaise and LaSalle
Riding home from work today I passed this shipping container sitting outside a house. This is a fairly common scene around New Orleans as people still have trailers in front of their homes and portable storage units are parked all over. Continue reading
Bus Stop at Freret and Cadiz
Sometimes I really don’t understand the rebuilding priorities in this place. There is so much to be done. Just today on my ride home from work I passed a decaying house with missing doors exposing a moldy high chair, stacks of old newpapers, and a spare bike tire that particularly caught my eye. Continue reading
