One of my very, very favorite things about New Orleans–and surely many places are like this–is how many ways there are to sit outside and watch stuff. Continue reading
Treme
Glass at Jefferson and Garfield
The weather here is crazy. It was actually kind of cold today. Or at least, it feels cold to me when it’s below seventy degrees. I felt the chill while riding home, via a bar–this is New Orleans, after all–for a quick drink, from my night class. Continue reading
House and Lot at Thalia and Camp
I haven’t blogged in a few days, but not because I haven’t been riding around, but because I’ve been out riding so late. By the time I’ve gotten home, I’ve been too tired to write. Continue reading
Twilight Sky at Dauphine and Bienville
I’ve been itching to ride Jack around these past few days and finally had time tonight to velcro on my bike shoes and tool around for a bit. I rode to meet some friends for dinner, and I found myself racing my friend’s car for part of the way. Continue reading
The Moon From Euterpe and St. Charles
My knee was feeling so, so much better this evening, I think because of yoga. My body may have just needed a streeetching out. So when friends called to go dancing in Mid-City, I happily hopped on Rhoda and headed out. Continue reading
Overgrown Lot and Decaying Fence at St. Philip and St. Claude
Today was hot and humid, a little reminder of what we’ll be in for as summer gets here. I love summertime in New Orleans, so I was happy to get out on a bike ride. I headed to Mid-City to meet up with a friend for a ride to the Bywater for lunch. I could feel the sun baking my back, and it sure was. I’ve got a bit of a sunburn, unfortunately. Continue reading
Film Set at Barracks and St. Claude
I’m on spring break and the weather is perfect. That means bike riding, of course. Today I tooled down to to the Marigny to meet some friends for coffee and reading. But I was having such a good time feeling the sunshine and listening to music that I decided to zip up and down all the streets in the Quarter, which were virtually empty, before heading to the cafe. It felt so good. Continue reading
St. Patrick’s Day at Molly’s On The Market
It’s St. Patrick’s Day weekend here in New Orleans, and folks are already wearing green. Tonight’s parade–which I missed in favor of a concert–took place here, at Molly’s On the Market on Decatur. I saw people painting this flag and shamrock on the sidewalk a couple days ago, and already it looks like more than a parade has walked all over it. It’s amazing how quickly a drunken crowd can take down some sidewalk art. Continue reading
House at St. Louis and N. Prieur
It was a crisp, sunny day in New Orleans, and I took the Saturday for a nice, long bike ride around town. There was a bazaar over on Broad and Bienville, so I rode down to the Quarter and then over toward Mid-City on St. Louis. Continue reading
St. Louis #3
I am back in New Orleans and back in the heat. Today’s bike ride to Mid City was scorching. Well, less scorching and more melting, I suppose. Continue reading
