I woke up this morning to the good news that antibiotics work. I feel so, so much better and got to ride my bike to work this afternoon. Today was cold, by New Orleans standards anyway, and the ride was brisk. Continue reading

Sidewalk at Magazine and Orange Street
It’s that time of year–I’ve got bronchitis. And I’m not happy about it, especially as it is seriously cutting in to my bike time! It is so, so frustrating to not be able to breathe normally and thus not be able to ride normally. Continue reading
Crime Happened Here Sign on Camp Street
Today the group Silence is Violence held it’s strike against crime. I noticed that something was up almost immediately upon getting on my bike when I saw this sign just a few blocks from home. And, as I continued my commute to work, I saw dozens more, each marking the location of a crime. Continue reading
Christmas Palm at Chestnut and Delachaise
It is Christmas time in New Orleans, and everywhere else. I haven’t really felt much in the holiday mood lately. This is only my second Christmas here, and I’m just not used to the near-80 degree temps in December, though I enjoy them. Continue reading
Foggy Night at the Bridge Lounge
I took today off from work and rode my bike all over, reminding myself that I’m plenty good at riding. And not every car is out to get me. I started with a ride down to Surrey’s for a delightful brunch with N. and then headed down to the Quarter to find some holiday gifts at the Louisiana Music Factory. Continue reading
Brad & Dellwen Flag-Party-Gift Shop on Magazine
So I got back on the bike today. My injuries are mostly mental, so I knew I had to just get back on and ride. I rode down Magazine to Juan’s Flying Burrito for lunch with my crosswords. Continue reading
Brick Facade on St. Claude
So, if you ride a bike as much as I do, you are bound to get in an accident or two. Yep. The day started with a leisurely ride down to the Bywater for brunch. Continue reading
Blooming Flowers on Baronne
I’ve noticed recently that I take a lot of pictures of thing that represent the rundown parts of this city. That’s partly because that’s most of what this city is–rundown and largely abandoned–but why this is and how this could be different is also largely what I think about when I’m tooling around this place. Continue reading
Tony at Tulane
I have been without my trusty digital camera for several days and it has been rough. I’ve been riding my bike around every day, unable to photodocument what I see! I finally lost it last night and went out to buy a new one. Of course, that meant I found my old one. Continue reading
On Piety
Today reminded me of summer. I rode my bike just to ride and taste the wind. The day started with rain, but then it let up and the sun was shining and I felt free, zipping through Uptown for a lunch date with A. I wasn’t sure where my bike would take me after that, but I overheard some folks talking about some installation art on Piety. Continue reading
