Abandoned Albertson’s at Jefferson Parkway and Tulane Ave.

Abandoned Albertson's at Jefferson Parkway and Tulane Ave.I got up this morning with a gleam in my eye. Because today, my dear friend K., picked up her new bike. And she wanted to spend the day riding all over town, stretching her legs and her new chain. Well, I’m certainly up for using my sunny Saturday afternoon like that, so I met her at the bike shop in the Quarter. Continue reading

House on Stilts on Bayou St. John

Stilt House on Bayou St. JohnIt was an absolutely beautiful day today.  I mean, look at that blue sky.  I hopped on Jack and rode over to Mid-City to pick up some tickets to Wednesday’s Hornets game that I won in a drawing.  The tickets are so, so good–seventh row, “premium club,” with concierge service, near center court.  I am so excited, and so glad I bother filling out the raffle ticket at the Alternative Media Expo a few weeks ago!  Continue reading

UCLA vs. VCU at Ochsner Baptist ER

NCAA Tourney at Ochsner BaptistToday is my first day of spring break.  AND it’s the first day of the NCAA tournament.  Yeah, it’s a good, good day.  I celebrated by–what else–taking a bike ride.  This afternoon’s ride took me to Mid-City to help J. and M. move in to their new place.  There were eight of us, a U-Haul, a pick-up truck, three dogs, three cases of beer, and jambalaya.  I can stand to move like this, I must say.  Continue reading

Lindy Boggs Medical Center in Mid-City

Abandoned Hospital in Mid-CityThe sun came out again today thank goodness.  I hadn’t ridden my bicycle in two whole days–which is a really long time.  I was getting itchy.  So after riding to and from work today I took Jack out for a long ride around Mid-City.  Continue reading

Community Garden at Burgundy and St. Ferdinand

Community Garden in the MarignyI rode my bike down to the Marigny tonight to see some experimental theater. Those two words together often send shivers up my spine, but I was in the mood to watch creative people doing creative things, so I was game. I showed up early to meet my friend M., so I decided to tool around the neighborhood for a bit. Continue reading

Birds at Bayou St. John

Birds Flying at Bayou St. JohnToday was a New Orleans kind of day, as N. would say.  I had no particular plans, but what started as brunch with friends ended up being a day of fun in Mid-City, riding the new bike around.  Continue reading

Sunset On Bayou St. John

Bayou St. JohnIt’s about to get warm again in New Orleans, so I decided to take advantage of the cool afternoon and got on the new bike for a trip to Mid-City and Bayou St. John.  I love the new bike.  I love just letting loose and speeding along, legs spinning, elbows bending.  It feels so, so free.  Jack and I are in for a long life of rides together, methinks.  Continue reading

House at St. Louis and N. Prieur

House on St. Louis and N. PrieurIt was a crisp, sunny day in New Orleans, and I took the Saturday for a nice, long bike ride around town.  There was a bazaar over on Broad and Bienville, so I rode down to the Quarter and then over toward Mid-City on St. Louis.  Continue reading

St. Louis #3

I am back in New Orleans and back in the heat. Today’s bike ride to Mid City was scorching. Well, less scorching and more melting, I suppose. Continue reading
