Rubber Chicken and Clock on a Street Sign at Louisiana and Camp

Rubber Chicken and Clock on a Street Sign at Louisiana and CampSo I’m riding my bike back from dinner with K. and some grocery shopping when I pass this street sign at the corner of Louisiana and Camp. It is warning drivers to park for no more than two hours (my failure to follow this sign has resulted in some pretty hefty fines this month). This sign was also home to that bike from several weeks ago that had been locked up there for months and months. Continue reading

Set Painting at Tulane’s Dixon Hall

Set Painting in Dixon Hall at TulaneI rode my bike to work this morning, pumping as fast as I could, clocking a quick 12 minutes. I was excited–tonight was our big program event that we’ve been planning for two months, and I was ready to put that baby to bed. I needed to get some things from the theater department for our performer, so I rode over to Dixon Hall after office hours. Continue reading

Graffiti at Dauphine and Conti

Sock Hop For Cops Graffiti at Dauphine and ContiLast night’s rain has left this city soggy, and I was a bit nervous about getting caught in a downpour on my ride to work. I stayed dry, but it’s definitely time to start thinking about getting some quality rain gear. I took the Surly out for the first time since I got home tonight, pedaling through Central City in the thick air. Continue reading

Glowing Puppets at Constance and Orange

Light Puppets at Constance and OrangeToday’s bike ride took me down to the Marigny to meet up with S. for some writing and coffee. It is apparently the last warm day for awhile, but I’ll believe that when I feel it. I zipped back Uptown to meet K. for a show. Continue reading

Stained Glass Window at NOPD 2nd District Headquarters

Stained Glass Window at Second District Police Station on MagazineThis is the best photograph I got tonight. It was so humid here on my ride to pick up some dinner that the flash turned the rest of my pictures in to a fuzzy mess. But I  did get this photo of the stained glass window at the NOPD 2nd District headquarters at Magazine and Napoleon. Continue reading

Stop Sign at Prytania and Joseph

Stop Sign at Prytania and Joseph St.Today I rode up to campus along Prytania, enjoying its smooth asphalt. When it hits Joseph Street, you get to jog right or left, and the asphalt gets considerably bumpier, and the shoulder much smaller. As I tooled up to the stop, I noticed the cartoon stop sign on the house right in front. Continue reading

Virgin Mary With Mardi Gras Beads at Marengo and Camp

Virgin Mary Statue With Mardi Gras Beads at Camp and MarengoI had a lazy day today just doing things around the house and staring at my cats. I fixed a flat on the Surly and then took her out for a ride this afternoon to meet N. for some Mexico/U.S. soccer action.I then rode my bike home, where I passed this statue of the Virgin Mary, wearing Mardi Gras beads around her neck. Continue reading

Be The Change You Seek Mural at Baronne and Philip

Be The Change You Seek Mural at Baronne and FirstThis post really belongs on a blog titled What I Saw Pushing My Bike Around In The Rain Today. As I was leaving this morning to meet S. at the coffee shop in the Marigny I thought to myself, remember to grab the patch kit and pump. Wish I’d heeded that call, because on the way home I popped my front tire at Lee Circle. Continue reading

Graffiti at Race and Magazine

Graffiti at Race and MagazineTonight’s ride took me to dinner with A. and K. and then over to the coffee shop for a delightfully lazy evening of chatter in the cool(ish) breeze. My knees are feeling the pain these days, so it was good to take a day with only light riding. I snapped this picture of graffiti on the corner of Race and Magazine. Continue reading

Community Garden at Burgundy and St. Ferdinand

Community Garden in the MarignyI rode my bike down to the Marigny tonight to see some experimental theater. Those two words together often send shivers up my spine, but I was in the mood to watch creative people doing creative things, so I was game. I showed up early to meet my friend M., so I decided to tool around the neighborhood for a bit. Continue reading
